Some of the video I post this year will be in available in Quicktime format (as well as windows media).  The video is the same in both versions, but quicktime offers the advantage of being able to step forward and backward one frame at a time using the directional arrows on your keyboard.  If you have iTunes on your computer, you already have quicktime installed.  Otherwise, you can download it from http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
